That's me!
About me
My journey
My inspiration
My name is Irmgard Standhartinger, and I live in Peterskirchen near Ried im Innkreis, in the beautiful Innviertel region of Austria. Painting has been part of my life for many years – a path that began in 1996 and has never let go of me since. As a self-taught artist, I have gradually developed my own artistic style and have explored many different techniques and materials along the way.
Today, my drawings and paintings are created using a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolour, charcoal, graphite, scratchboard and collage. Each material has its own language and character, allowing me to bring my subjects to life in different ways.
My work explores a wide range of themes and subjects. These include landscapes, animal portraits, portraits of people, figure drawings, still lifes and even culinary motifs. In short, there is hardly anything that escapes my pencil or brush – because interesting forms, characters and stories can be discovered everywhere.
Over the years, however, one special focus has emerged: animal portraits, and especially predators. Their strength, presence and raw energy fascinate me again and again. At the same time, I truly enjoy portraying the beloved pets and companions of people. For many, these animals are an important part of their lives, and a lifelike portrait can become a beautiful memory or a very special gift.
When creating portraits, it is particularly important to me to capture the unique expression of every living being – whether through facial expression, the gaze, or body posture. My aim is not only to create a beautiful image, but also to capture character and personality so that the portrait feels vivid and instantly recognisable.
If you have any questions about my work or would like to commission a portrait, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Would you like to collaborate?
Maybe you have a special place of your own – a building, a café, a showroom, or something entirely unique – and you’d like to bring more expression, atmosphere, and depth into that space. My artwork is created to do exactly that: to act as a visual anchor, a subtle presence, or a powerful statement that brings a space to life.
Whether it’s a kitchen design studio showcasing still lifes or culinary-inspired pieces, a veterinary clinic creating warmth and trust through animal portraits, or a café developing its own distinctive mood through carefully selected works – I love placing art in a way that enhances and complements the character of a space.
I look forward to creating something meaningful together – collaborations and projects that don’t just decorate, but truly resonate and leave a lasting impression.
